Dataforth Corporation has partnered with eagle.io to enable customers to use their MAQ20 system and eagle.io’s cloud-based software to build an IoT cloud-based remote monitoring system. Designed to remotely monitor environmental sensors, their website states that eagle.io enables users to “acquire data in real-time from any data logger or text file, transform data automatically using processing and logic, receive alerts for critical events, and share access with clients.”

“This is a very exciting partnership,” says Georg Haubner, VP of Sales and Marketing. “Just a few simple steps are needed to connect the MAQ20 Data Acquisition and Control System to eagle.io. The interface is extremely fast and designed to work across multiple platforms including phones, tablets, and PCs. There is no software to install and no page reloads are necessary. What we’ve added through this partnership is easy remote data monitoring that is worldwide and exceptionally secure.”

Say, for example, the challenge is to remotely monitor water tank levels in rural locations. With MAQ20 and eagle.io, the levels can be checked from the comfort of your office or home – or wherever you are. If there is an issue, a crew can be dispatched to deal with it; otherwise there is no need to waste time and resources personally checking onsite meters.

“Eagle.io runs from any Internet-enabled device with a web browser, and any browser is okay,” Haubner says. “It’s so beautifully simple.”

In addition to remote monitoring, eagle.io supports the acquisition and storage of up to 20,000 records per data source per day. Data is always stored in a raw unprocessed format with optional quality information. Via the user interface, data can be displayed and exported in a tabular or chart format and as either raw or processed data.

When starting with an eagle.io connection, MAQ20 users first pinpoint their location on a map. They then select the parameters they want to display for each particular workspace they set up. These are used to create a chart of the parameters and a dashboard with graphic displays. The data displayed is simultaneously available in real-time to all MAQ20 users having access via an eagle.io account.

Dataforth’s weather station is being used to showcase for MAQ20 users the advantages of an eagle.io connection. A commercial weather station and its sensors at the Tucson facility are connected to a MAQ20 system that is connected to an eagle.io demo account through the Internet. Users can view the real-time weather reports simultaneously, wherever they are in the world and without needing their own software. Please contact Dataforth to view this sample account.
